The Miami-Dade County Public Schools Payroll Department is responsible for paying over 40,000 full-time employees, 11,000 part-time employees and 5,000 substitutes. We issue paychecks every two weeks for a gross amount of over 75 million dollars or 1.8 billion dollars a year making us the second largest payroll operation in the State of Florida.
All employees (instructional and non-instructional) are paid biweekly every other Friday throughout the year (except when Friday is a holiday). The pay periods normally consists of a 10-day period which end on a Thursday and the checks/advices are issued six working days later on a Friday. See the Payroll Processing Schedule for actual pay periods and pay dates.
Time and attendance data is entered online by each school/location, after it is entered and approved online by the Principal or site administrator, the payroll department reviews and balances the information. The Payroll system uses an in-house developed software which had an MSA system as its foundation. Once the checks/advices are printed, they are distributed throughout the District by Treasury Management.
